Readin the discards in rummy could be useful. As a standard practice of the rummy game, the discarded cards are not to be tampered with. Player are not to spread and examine the discarded card in the pile. Yet, we all tend to peak at what is in the pile. Afterall, the pile is very rarely a perfect lined up pile!
The information you can get out of those cards sticking out is gold when putting together your rummy hand. So, before you go ahead and discard one of your cards, take a glance at the pile of cards ad it could save you from regretting the move later.
You should not do it in such a manner that you are studying each card discarded. You simply want be aware of what is going on in the games turn of events. See what is there and what is missing in the pile.... now you know it is alive and be ready for it.
